My friend, who lives in Orlando, gave me word of this sad news today.

"Two monorail trains smashed into each other at Walt Disney World in Orlando early Sunday morning, killing one conductor and injuring the other.
A Walt Disney World spokesman said the crash happened at about 2 a.m. Sunday on the monorail's last run of the day. The trains were carrying only five passengers and two employees, none of whom were hurt.
"Two trains collided at the ticket and transportation center. One driver on one train is dead and the other driver from the second train was taken to the hospital," said Bo Jones of the Reedy Creek Fire Department.
The crash on the Epcot line in the Magic Kingdom section of the theme park marked the first monorail death there in its 38 years of running."

this is sad, but with something so many people use it's no surprise there was a death. _________________ Follow me on Twitter!Click to view my Twitter

I never thought something this bad could happened. I always found it safe and fun to be on. What could have gone wrong here. I used to hear how they had special devices to keep this from happening. A system called MayPo system was design too have this from never happening. A Fox news had a former monorail driver explain the system. My prayers goes out to family lost.
Here a video link to the interview with the monorail driver explaining the system.

Sad to hear about this. Heard about it but never bothered to read exactly what happened until now.
