Great show. I am glad to hear you are getting over your colds.
I am looking forward to hearing about the rest of you Orlando vacation from you and Sharron.
Brent, Akbar's Aventure Tour was a fun, if not exciting ride, that replaced Questor. It was a magic carpet ride, not a jeep ride. Akbar was there for a while, but after the first couple of years it rarely opened (I guess just on very busy days). Questor was a better simulator ride that they had for several years. The ride was an adventure ride where you were helping an old scientist to find a rare gem, to continue his work. The old scientist was pretty much just a ripoff of the old Dreamfinder from Epcot.
As far as the shoe throwing. The Secret Service has prepared for a Florsheim attack. They have trained for it. After seeing what Random Task was able to do with a shoe in Austin Powers, they made plans to deal with it. This one just caught them by suprise.
I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, or whatever holiday you may celebrate.

I'm very excited to listen to the huge discussion you kids are going to have. I want to hear more about your impressions of Universal Orlando vs. Universal Hollywood.
I never went to Universal Hollywood when I was in Cali, but driving by it, the only thing I wish California had was Universal Orlando transported over there. I just love the set-up they have, which makes me realize why I love Disneyland so much as well.

Great show. It was great to hear the little bit about Orlando we got to hear. Orlando is the one place I really want to go, so I'm interested in hearing about how it was for you guys. The delay at the airport does not sound like fun...
Merry (late) Christmas everyone!

Awesome. This conversation has actually been one of the hardest we've ever had to record - Between the Holidays and getting time away from the kids; it's been almost impossible.
Check in on Thursday, there will be TWO episodes posted. 59 & 60.

I think I am just about the only person in the world that actually likes Stitch's Great Escape. I just think the technology used in the animatronics (Stitch & The Cannons) are just awesome.

sorry pat but i definitely agree with doug
did you ever go on the xs tech alien encounters? or have you only been on stitch?

I been on Alien Encounter a few times and was never impressed with it.
I think the big lovefest for it in the fan community comes from the fact that it was something different, never really taken in by the GP and featured original characters. Also people seem to fawn over things after they are no longer around.
I have no idea what disney was thinking when they built the original Alien Encounter. It cost them a huge amount of money and consistently had little kids crying in fear coming off of it. I think it ran for about 6 years or so, which has to be one of the shortest lived expensive attractions ever.

I don't know what WDW was thinking when they built the original Alien Encounter either, but I wish someone there would think like that again. All they have to do is put plenty of signs saying it is not for young children.
The ride replaced Mission to Mars, with a new ride I rode every time I was at the park. Now with the current Stitch ride I have rode it twice. The first time to see what the ride was all about, the second and last time was so that a podcaster from California could say he had been on Stich. It was like riding MST3K. It was fun talking about how bad it was, but not something I would wait in line the whole 5 min. to do again.

The only thing I liked about it was the animatronics. The vomit burp sent me over the edge and would have sent me running if I hadn't been wedged in my seat by the shoulder restraints. The pre-show was better than the actual show and I just felt as though they had all of these opportunities to make it better and they just didn't. It's a shame. But, I think that my 4 year old would like it, so I suppose that is what is important when I am at The Magic Kingdom.

Pat, I think it's great that you enjoy Stitch and I will strongly agree that the cannons used in the production are sequenced very well; the animatronics in the preshow look great too. In my opinion though, the overall presentation was a complete miss.
Whenever I enter an attraction (especially Disney) I want to feel involved with the story that is proposed - the flaws within the writing & environment for Stitch were rigorous. To me, it was a forced caveat and the illusion fabricated never surfaced.
It seemed like they invested into the technology, but forgot about a definitive story. Also, I was not that impressed by the Stitch animatronic; I noticed flaws with the fabric bunching up in certain areas (whenever his ears moved) and it was quite obvious he was established on a turntable which looked a little chintzy.
I'm not trying to sound like a snob... I just (unfortunately) expect something more from Disney and am disappointed when I walk away from an attraction feel apathy for an "Experience" because of a weak narrative.
It also didn't help that my right speaker was off, so I couldn't hear the stereo effects of the audio.
But honestly, I think I'm in the minority because Stitch had long lines and the general public had smiles on their faces walking out the exit. So, to each their own, right.
I will apologize for my harsh words though... sometimes I tend to be obnoxious with my opinions.

if they did that i think they could have easily kept the ride the way it was.
i guess i would enjoy stitch more if it felt like more of a new attraction rather than disney going well this ride is scaring kids. make a new animitronic a couple of videos and give it a paint job

I loved Alien Encounter and I really do wish it still exsisted. IMO, it's far more better than Stitch.
However, Stitch isn't a bad attraction and it almost fits perfect with Magic Kingdom. AE was definitely out of place in that park. If AE exsisted in Hollywood Studios, then it would have done just fine. That attraction definitely wasn't for kids and it stated that on the maps and I think there were signs nearby too.

I am working on catching up on all the episodes of the Season Pass and Brent talking about High School Musical made me laugh so hard. I was sitting there going Ryan Ryan Ryan! and He's my favorite, when he couldn't remember Sharpay's brothers name. Good thing it was late on a friday. Thanks for keeping me sane at work.
