Episode 79: Saw The Ride & Manta w/ a Swedish touch

This week we review new major attractions in the Theme Park World.  Nick Hutson returns to the SPDR with Doug Barnes with guest Sandra from Sweden and Darrell (Wylder on the Season Pass Forums) to scrutinize Saw: The Ride in Thorpe Park, Manta in SeaWorld Orlando and Characters in Flight in Downtown WDW.   We also get a “sweet” review of Liseberg Park in Sweden.  Lots of fun, please enjoy!

Don't you mean episode number 79?

Great Show, Love those "Balloon Pirates"

This was a awesome show. I think this is great having a review show. Not only that but to have a Season Pass member from the forums join the discussion room was great.

I hope that there is more chances for members on the forums to join in on the show. It would be nice to have this community weight in on the rides and attractions coming out in the future.

It's good to hear Manta was a smooth ride. I been on some Air Coaster like BAT-Wing where people have thrown up. I guess this ride is more gentle, but a accelerating experience

I can't wait to see those Balloon Pirates and Pilot's. I wonder how there theme song would be. "A life of air for me"
When I heard Balloon Pirates I couldn't help but think of these movies I saw about Air ship and Balloons. I remember how strange but cool they look. That's why I posted these pictures from movies that deal with Balloon's, Airship, and Balloon Pirates.  The first is Stardust from 2007 where Robert De Niro played a Capt. of the Balloon Pirates.  Another is from a Japanese Anime "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind " which was in a world of Airship and Balloon raiders at War with each other. Others like Jules Verne's "Master of the World"  where a man creates a Airship Balloon to end all wars. It' had Charles Bronson and Vincent Price in that film. I can't wait to see a real life Balloon Pirate now.  GREAT SHOW hope there more of these review's.

Stingray - Thanx for the kind words.  I agree, it was great to bring Wylder on show and hopefully we can get more SPF member appearances throughout the season.  It is a necessity to have community interaction.

Also, just a side comment - I love all the pics you post!  Great job!

Hey!

Great episode! Also great to hear Wylder on the show too!

Manta sounds fantastic! I'm going to Orlando next week and with all the talk about Manta I'm almost tempted to visit Sea World... but do yall think it's worth it to go since Manta and Kraken are the main attractions of the park?
Wylder

It is worth it, if you have the time.
Besides Manta and Kracken, you also have Journey to Atlantis and many good shows and animals.
If you have been to Seaworld and Manta is the only thing new for you, I don't know if I would drop another park to ride the one new coaster.

I haven't been before and I completely forgot about Journey To Atlantis. If we do go it'll be a last minute decision. We're already going to Wet N Wild, Busch Gardens, and Universal (both IOA and Studios). So it's a possibility, because it looks like a cool ride.

Sweet show guys! It was cool to hear reviews of some of the anticipated rides this year.

Slightly funny story, I was listening to the show late at night with my headphones on in the dark and got so FREAKED OUT when Nick said "Let the games begin" with that creepy echo. All the effects he used were pretty funny (helium, running around you)  Laughing

Bwahha.  Do you mean the bit when I said GAME OVER?

Saw: The Ride is really quite awesome.  I hope that comes across on my review : )
traincrossing9

^Whoops! Well, you knew what I meant. And yes, Saw did sound very awesome from your review.
