Yep, this coming Wednesday I'll be going to Dollywood and I'm going again Monday the 19th. In August, not sure which days yet, me and a couple friends are going to Tampa, Florida for my first visit to Busch Gardens and a real beach!!! lol These trips are official...
The ones I still want to do this summer are Holiday World, Kentucky Kingdom, Six Flags Over Georgia, Beech Bend Park, Kings Island or Cedar Point, and maybe Hard Rock Park. I'm sure I can hit up the local ones but the ones that require some distance I'm not too sure about yet.

Sweetness, I always hear ya refering to how ya never been to Orlando, the current theme park captial of the world. My favorite place to visit on earth.
But my favorite part of Orlando isnt just the theme parks, its the whole tourist enviroment itself...alot of little hidden treasures along I-92, my favorite being the little shopping plaza known as Old Town.(highly suggest vistiting towrds night) and International Drive is another stretch of road that has alot of hidden little attractions.
I also plan on hitting Orlando up again, my families annual trip is every march/april over spring break, but Im going again July 10th-19th as well.
e_tapley0687
Yea I love to visit Orlando too. I still haven't been able to go there with my own transportation so I can see everything I want to see without having to pay for a cab. This year I plan on driving there so I will be able to explore Interstate Drive like I want to becauce I hear good things about it all the time.

Oh BTW, I went to Dollywood the other weekend, but I didn't get any pics or videos to share. Sorry, I'll remember to next time!
Doug_Barnes
I got a little jealous bug flying around me right now. What an amazing trip. Was it the first time you've been to all these parks? How long did the trip take?

California's Great America
Magic Kingdom
Epcot
Disney's Animal Kingdom
Disney's Hollywood Studios
Disneyland
Disney's California Adventure
Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk
Six Flags Magic Mountain
Six Flags Discovery Kingdom
Six Flags Over Texas

It seems appropriate that I visit another Six Flags park this year to make it six. It just might be Six Flags Over Georgia, the park I grew up going to.

For all of us Seinfeld fans out there, I have declared this "The Summer of Chance"
Basically I just do whatever I want.... and what I pretty much always want, is to ride coasters... Im just fortunate enough to be able to take off 3 months to do so in one summer! So far I have already spent 20 days inside an amusement park, been to 13 parks, ridden 82 different coasters taken a total of 720 coaster laps, traveled 583 miles of coaster track, and ridden 160 laps on JUST The Voyage.
I have 31 parks left, including 208 different coasters and 55 days!
Those are all part of one trip which begins the day after tomorrow.
Doug_Barnes
^Please keep us updated... I'm saving a future episode for your glorious story bro!!
ChanceWMitchell
I will be posting trip reports regularly via my smart phone, and I may call up the hotline from time to time and leave a message. I'll let everyone know my opinion. But be aware, I LOVE a rough ride on a wooden coaster. I actually enjoy back seat of Son of Beast. And Voyage? It simply does not get any better.
e_tapley0687
^ WOW That amusement/theme park tour is only something I can dream of! lol More power to ya man!

Heading through California's bay area in mid-July, I'm seriously considering a stop at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom (Mon July 13) and a brief pass at California's Great Adventure the night prior. I visited the latter way back when under Paramount ownership, but DK would be a first time. If these aren't destination parks, they still have new coasters to ride!
But really, CGA took out a flying coaster in favor of a water park? I still remember the billboards, they were out long before Tatsu opened at Magic Mountain.
Doug, aren't these your home parks? What are the standouts? Which would you skip? I hear one park may have the worst woodie ever; the other has a good one.
Finally, I need to put up a trip report. My son and I made a special trip to Disneyland for the Matterhorn's 50th birthday (great job Disney, keeping this classic going!). Two days later, we ran up to Magic Mountain to check out Terminator. Fun! Then we finished up our theme park flurry last Weds to check out Disney's new Nightastic line-up as our passes were about to peter out. Hopefull I'll get around to it this Sunday or Monday.
Great job on the recent podcasts - especially the KI riot. Keep it up!
Doug_Barnes
Pal, great to hear you're headed up to NoCal! I'm not a big fan of CGA, however SFDK has improved dramatically in the last 2 years; I highly recommend that park. Your right about the woodies... CGA has Grizzly - Hands down the worst coaster ever (I'd rather ride Son of Beast 10 x's in a row)!! SFDK has Roar - A great GCI coaster! It's the first coaster to use the Millennium Flyer Trains and it's celebrating its 10th Anniversary. Other coasters not to miss: Medusa (much better than Scream in SFMM), Tony Hawk (short but sweet), V2 (a little mild for an Intamin Impulse, yet still fun), and Voodoo (a Huss Top Spin). Make sure to check out some of the animal shows; Killer Whale, Dolphins, and Sea Lion (our friend Ryan Harmon wrote the current show in use. )
Glad to hear Terminator was fun. Let me know if you need anymore info.

It's a go! We're looking forward to checking out this hybrid park on Mon July 13. We have to be in Coloma that night, hopefully while its still light (for a real-world rafting trip on the south fork American on Tues, my son's whitewater run). Do you think we can experience the best of the park from opening to 4 or 5 pm? I'm leaning toward picking up a regular Flash Pass so we can squeeze in some re-rides. Do you know anything about traffic out of town on 80 to Sacramento?
I hope things are cooling down out your way. 108? Sizzling!
Pal
Doug, another great podcast. Here's proof I listen right to the end - you're going to SFDK just a few days in advance of our own trip. Very timely! I'm looking forward to hearing all about it.
e_tapley0687
Hey guys! I've been a little absent from the boards because I've been traveling a lot! 3 parks in 2 and a half weeks! Can't believe it! Cedar Point, Holiday World, and Six Flags Over Georgia!!! I've been having a blast!
Stingray
off to Miami and maybe Orlando
Well, I’m off for a short family trip to Miami. I my way back I going to try to stop by Orlando for some rides. I going to make Manta my first stop (I can’t wait to ride it) and later try to visit the mouse if I have enough Disney Dollars(It’s a tough economy these day’s). I going to see if I can do another round of Toy Story and a finial ride of the old Star Tours before the rumors of a redone coming in 2010 is done. Looking forward to a dole whip as well. It’s too bad that Hollywood Rip Ride Rocket won’t be running yet, but maybe by Halloween Horror Night it’s ready. I actually won those Universal Studios Super Bowl tickets, but I might wait to use them for the Halloween event. I thinking about going to Busch Gardens Tampa or Space Kennedy Center (check out to see that escape coaster they might be building). I don’t know yet I want to try that shuttle ride at Kennedy center. I recently went to Busch Gardens Williamsburg so I might give Tampa a break maybe (?). Time will only tell. I give everybody a trip report with some good photo’s maybe video (I have to pick a good online account first, any suggestion). I going to use my iphone to keep up with the podcast, since it’s my only connection online in the parks. I guess the only thing I going miss is the thrilling action pack “Brain Rush” show, but I get over that fast. Couldn’t those guy’s film at more parks?
Well I leave all of you with this natural art coaster and a trippe “Alice” music video that has more in common with the old nights in white satin ride in terms of “What the ?”
And remember, “if you interesting in the stingray barter only”
Do you know anything about traffic out of town on 80 to Sacramento?
lol, yeah, it sucks. which you may or may not have found out last night. it all depends on when you leave.
How did you like Great America? Did you brave Grizzly? That is by far and away the WORST woodie ever, ever! I really do like DK because it offers a little of something for everyone, it's a great family experience and the changes that Six Flags has made to the care and attention to their parks has translated well in DK and it is apparent. There is a lot of stuff for the kids and good stuff for the older "kids".
I hope you enjoyed!
Pal
DK was great, far beyond expectations. We loved the setting, the enthusiastic staff (countless coaster high fives), the quality animal exhibits (although the new Shouka white tiger show was underwhelming, leaving a "is that all there is" feeling. But of course we went for the coasters.
Roar was down (!), so we made do with the others. V2 was our first of the type - fantastic. Loved the acceleration and hang time, prefer it to Deja Vu. Tony Hawk was intense for a family coaster, good stuff. Most of all we enjoyed Medusa. Somehow it roundly beats Scream, a whole better than the sum sort of thing.
CGA was sort of sad. I visited when it was new, I couldn't have been more than 13. So much fun, lively and cutting edge. Obviously it suffers from lack of investment. The flat ride collection is nice (especially Survivor), and Flight Deck is first class. We liked Invertigo too. It was fun, and I'm glad we visited, but it's good we hit it 1st. DK is so much better. And luckily I-80 wasn't too bad.
Pal
Pecking this out on an iPhone (we're in finishing out this trip camping in Mammoth), it's easier to add a reply than edit. The tiger is Odin - we missed Shouka the orca.
Kong roughed us up. Once was enough.
Back to the staff. I was impressed. They were hustling in the heat, having fun, interacting with guests. Wonderful. What a contrast with the demoralized, disinterested, slow and unapproachable staff at CGA. Oh yeah, that woodie, rediculously slow around the turns. Yawn.
dougscoastergirl
Yeah, i expected a little more out of the odin show.......oh well. LOL
I haven't been in CGA in oh I don't even remember the last time.....doug would have to tell you.......i don't think i've been since they changed the name of top gun (which is one of the only decent rides there in my opinion).
Glad you had a good time!!

Great to hear you had a good time @ SFDK. I have to agree with the shows. They are not quite "edutainment," just closer to education.
ROAR WAS DOWN!!!!????? AAAHHHH!! I mean, bummer. Roar is my favorite ride in the park (I hope I didn't rub that one in... ).
You did ride Medusa though which blows Scream out-of the-water!! Glad to hear you liked it as well.
CGA... haven't been there in a long time... there's a reason... ummm... Hey! Discovery Kingdom is cool!

Kong sux, of course, after riding T2 in Kentucky Kingdom---- Kong ain't so bad now.
I agree about the staff in SFDK, great people & enthusiastic service. Great Job Six Flags!

You have no idea. When we heard that, I felt 42 going on 4. Somehow I kept my scant store of dignity, and skipped the kicking and screaming. Salt in the wound was walking by Roar's beckoning entrance time after time for V2 and Tony Hawk. Roar's a sexy looking coaster... you know what I mean, those curves look hot! I wanted a ride, heh heh. I did hear you say your show is PG, right?
Roar was the unspoken reason for our 1.5-day, 300 mile detour. Ah well, just an excuse to come back another time. Probably not as soon as TPR's visit, but within the next year or so. That's a quality park you have there.
One more thing. With a regular Flashpass, we managed 6 rides each on the bigger coasters until we hit saturation, and could have ridden the raft ride over and over. It was a great investment even on a Monday.

back from orlando and Kenndy
Hi Everybody: I'm back from Miami and Orlando and man I got some stuff to tell everybody. First let me say the word around Orlando parks is Hollywood Rip Rocket Ride coaster. Most of the crowds are just talking about Hollywood Rip Rocket as the next big thing. There's big anticipation for this coaster.
As for local business in Orlando there a lot of buzz about Legoland coming. Rumors are saying the defunk Splendid China theme park as the site as well as Cypress Garden. I got word and photo's about Star Tours redo, Disney survey groups at the parks, and ride reviews like Manta and a shuttle ride that not the one you think. And a secret park too.
I got photo's and I hope to bring a voice trip report on the phone or mp3.
Also, I going to share my trip to Williamsburg at the Busch parks and some world about the parks future. I'll try to have the trip report ready soon, but I had some bad family news that going to take up some of my time. Sorry.
Let say this. When I first got into listing to theme park podcast I didn't know how much it would change my view of theme parks. As a rider and customer to the parks I took thing's for granted, but with the Season Pass, Coaster Radio, Disney podcast, and others I find a new appreciation for the theme parks and what they bring. It reminds me of a tree course I took in school where the teacher said after this class "you will never look at a tree the same". Same can be said here. Thanks guy's

Hey,
I went to Holiday World today and I noticed something interesting. First off, while riding Pilgrams Plunge I noticed some landscape changes to area between Pilgrams Plunge and The Voyage.... such as the little red/orange-ish flags in the ground and a couple tractor trailor trucks. Next, after we got off PP we headed into the water park. Behind Kima Bay (located next to The Voyage) and the restrooms/oaisis stall there are some more little flags and while we were coming from PP there were 3 guys out there doing something around all those flags. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera, because first thought was to take a picture. Anyhow, I'm not sure what's going on... anyone know?
