I can't see what the hype of this roller coaster is. It doesn't go upside down, and it doesn't look like it does much airtime. Is it the fact that Universal is building it, and people are just in awe because it's Universal? On top of that, they have a pretty unexperienced company with this type of ride building it. This company is known more for mice coasters.

Johnnyupsidedown.com posted a really neat overall construction pic. Take a look:
dougscoastergirl
I'm sorry, maybe my old and tired eyes are deceiving me, but is that a corkscrew inside the loop?!
I dunno, i think that ride looks pretty great, actually. It's all about speed right? And it's Universal Orlando, i pretty much trust their judgment when it comes to their roller coasters, i know i didn't ride a poor one when I was there.
This is kind of cool to see these rides shaping up because when we were there it was just a bunch of dug out dirt with some footers. LOL, i did actually get a picture of that through the mesh.

Look at the radical moves on that thing! Very interesting layout, kind of stretched like an out and back. It should be a wonderful addition to the park. I hope it comes west, but not in a compact version a la Mummy. The Hollywood version is so-so; the Florida one so good.
Doug_Barnes
WOW!! Looks great... massive!

yea the mummy over here in hollywood is pretty bad if you ask me. i havent been on orlando's but i will be headin out there first thing this summer

I am going up to Universal this weekend to renew my passes, just so I can ride this thing. (great picture e-tap, this it the first picture I have seen where you can see the whole coaster) I have been on a few coasters, but this one looks so much different than anything I have been on, I am dying to give it a try.
Rollerman87
That loop thingy is gonna be insane! Talk about pushing the new X-Cars to their limits. I definitely have to make it to Florida someday to try all their insane coasters!
dougscoastergirl
I know, I wish florida wasn't 3000 miles away, I'd hop a plane just for the weekend to go on that bad boy!! that looks like it's going to be so cool. That "loop" is bad ass. Wylder, I expect a full report when it finally opens.
e_tapley0687
Wazomike: From most comparisons I've heard, Orlando's is better. I've been on Orlando's and it's great but I haven't been on Hollywood's so I couldn't give a fair judgement. But most of the time I do here it's better by a long shot.
Wylder: Yea, this pic is awsome! I've been impatiently waiting for an overal pic of the layout. Let us know how the ride is! I'm for sure going in May!
Shannon: lol that sounds like a great idea! But seriously that loop is bad ass lol. I really can't even imagine how it would feel to go through that element.
Pal
During my family's recent Uni Orlando visit, we nearly skipped the Mummy because the west coast version is so underwhelming. The SoCal version is crammed into a smaller show building, everything is condensed compared to its Fla cousin. Its fairly flat, a few twists and turns, a swoop here and there and you come to a (often painfully abrupt) stop and do it all again in reverse.
Florida's is simply a different, much longer ride, with more of a vertical element and no reverse. The forces are intense, especially cresting the launch hill and the 180 drop and curve at the end. We loved it and raced back for an encore.
dougscoastergirl
We did the same thing. I was so freaked out on that ride where i expected to go backwards and, well we didn't. I was so busy looking up and waiting to go backwards, when it didn't, that scared the poo outta me! LOL and we did the same thing, we raced right back around and went on it immediately again!
I don't think it has a specific opening date yet. I just know they were aiming for spring.
Wylder
Spring is as definate of a date as I have heard Universal give. Screamscape did have a rumor that they may have had some problems and it may be backed up until mid-summer. I'm hoping that is just a rumor though.
Screamscape has posted an update and it's sad to say, but the entire lift section of track has been removed.
It's reported, the track is being fixed right now, so the opening date of this ride will unfortunately be pushed back again.

Wow! I can't believe they removed the lift. I remember seeing a few trains going through. That lift is unreal. I wonder what the problem was with it now.
Doug_Barnes
It deals w/ the dogs. They are equipping them with a new set as well as a modified track to be accessible for the change. It's a longer story than that, but that's the gist.
wazomike
well this really sucks
im headin down to universal orlando for the first time and i was hoping that this might be open
e_tapley0687
The latest is the lift track is now back in place and the end were the "Plot Twist" is near City Walk is now looking more finished. The new fence is up at that area and it looks great!
Hopefully it's all smooth sailing from here and no more set backs.

Now I’m a big electronica fan. Artist like BT, Fatboy Slim, Chemical Brothers, Groove Armada, and DJ Shadow are just a few of favorite music artist. And I’m thinking man they are missing out. I don’t think this list is a blockbuster, but they could have done better. I hope more artist are added or improve.
Also, the country song list could at least have Toby Keith in that list. I’m looking at this list and boy I find the song list from a Guitar Hero or Rock Band game could have been used on this ride. Well, it might be a license issue here, but I do like the ideas of song’s being part of the ride and choosing them. I mean I had fun at Hard Rock riding Led Zeppelin, Rock’n’Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith at Disney, and Maximum RPM at Hard Rock even though I got the same song when you suppose to have a chocie, or Eagles Life in the Fast line. Having music on coaster is a great idea. Even when Space Mountain at Disneyland got a sound track and even had Red Hot Chili Peppers for a time as the music most people love it. At least that’s what I heard, I don’t know what the HARD CORE thought about that!
And Rap, I’m a big old school rap fan. Groups like Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Busta Rhymes, Ice Cube, L.L. Cool J, Gang Star, and Jurassic 5 are just what this ride needs. I mean hearing “Scenario” with the Bass pump up(if you can feel the bass on that ride) would be SLAMMING.
Or we can all make a request to have Season Pass theme song Enuff Z’nuff- “Wheels” as one of our ticket to ride songs too.
^Haha! Yes Stingray! You are the man, I'll request for it.
As for the list, I can't complain. I listen to a lot of underground metal so that's out of the question (unless Killswitch Engage or Lamb of God can get just a little bigger), but I also love older rap. Cypress Hill is a must for me and I would've preferred "So What Cha Want" for the Beastie Boys selection, but hey...
I agree with Tribe Called Quest (Big Fan of the early 90's stuff), also could've used some Digital Underground or Black Sheep, but whatever.
Still it's a great eclectic mix of hits and I'll be listening to some "Intergalactic," "Insane in the Membrane" and "Bring Me To Life" while riding this monster, however we will have to continue to drop the "Wheels" hint to all our Universal Studios friends.
e_tapley0687
I was hoping for something more in the Rap/Hip Hop section, but this is what I would choose from each section:
Classic Rock/Metal
Bring Me To Life - Evanescence
Rap/Hip Hop
Pump It - BEP
or
Stronger - Kanye West
Club/Electronica
Intergalactic - Beastie Boys
Pop/Disco
lol I just don't know
Country
The Devil Went Down To Georgia - Charlie Daniels Band
dougscoastergirl
I'm confused and have been out of the loop for a while (pun unintended), what is this about the music? are you able to craft a soundtrack while you ride the ride? how long is this ride?
Stingray
Hope this helps.

Audio
Each seat is outfitted with Polk Audio marine-grade stereo speakers that can push out 165 watts. Guests will rock to 90 decibels of music – and yet never hear the songs playing for other riders. This sound system - typically installed on wakeboard boats – gives riders an entirely new way to experience music.
Quote:
They pick their own music using industrial-grade touchpads that operate with the sophistication of an iPod. Songs from five genres of music will be pumped through individual sound systems that rely on all-weather speakers typically reserved for high-performance sports boats
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit features the country’s only operating moving roller coaster load platform – meaning it uses a people-mover-style conveyer belt to get people to their vehicles so that riders and vehicles never come to a complete stop. This allows vehicles to leave the station every 23 seconds.
They make this thing sound like a people mover. I mean a omni ride system has more in common with this coaster then a roller coaster. 23 seconds, if only all coaster can have that much loading time.

Does anyone have any updates on what the hell is happening with this thing!??

Hollywood Rip Rocket Update:OPENS in 4 Weeks, Preview now on
Video and update of open Rip Rocket testing now opening.
So, when can we hear a review about this ride? Is anybody planning to ride this soon?
Wylder
This is a crazy time for me right now, but I am going to try to get to Universal this week and give it a ride. I will let you know what I think of it, if I can get up there.
e_tapley0687
I've read a lot of reviews saying the ride is pretty mediocre. Nothing too special about it, but still a good ride. Looking forward to your review Wylder!
Wylder
On August 19th I was able to take a ride, on the Hollywood Rip Ride Rocket. We got to the park about 5:30 and the park closed at 7pm. the ride have a wait of 1:45.
The Coaster itself was very good. Not the fastest or highest, but had a lot of moves I have never experienced. The non-inverting loop is great. You really get thrown out of your seat as you roll over the top. It had many good moves, but nothing mind blowing.
While the coaster is a solid ride, the tech and detail, of the ride need more finish. The Selection screen did not work on my car. Which I found out meant, the music did not play and the video of our ride did not record.
Getting over waiting 1:45 and only half of the ride working, I was very surprised at the condition on the queue line. The ride has only been testing for 5 days and paint was peeling off all over the place. I am sure they will work out their problem, but I am surprised after all this time, that there were that many.
Doug_Barnes
I'm surprised that USF would present an attraction that is experienceing such technical difficulties. Usually any little tech issues will keep the ride shut down (by Universal standards that is).
But hey, I guess with it being a "Soft Opening" they allow the flaws.
e_tapley0687
Ok so this is still the "soft opening" right? I ask because it doesn't seem like it's up to their standards. The paint (appearance of the queue) is one thing, but the audio/video is half the reason I would want to ride it. Hopefully all this will be fixed soon.

Not exactly a winning endorsement here
Whoa,whoa,whoa,whoa,..wait a minute here. This ride is getting totally getting rip or rave from all sides. I have to ask this question. Is Manta the better of the new coaster built down there. It’s seems that this ride isn’t going to give Aerosmith’s Rock’n’Roller coaster a run for it’s money either. What happen here? I rode Manta and I saw and heard better reviews from all outlet’s on that coaster then with Hollywood Rip Rocket Ride. I hope something improves here. Wylder is there a chance we get to hear you on the show talking about this ride? Also have you seen any truth to the rumors of those secret song’s that is hack thought the display?
Wylder
From the ride I had, Manta is a better coaster. With the soundtrack and music video working, I think Rockit will be a much different experience. As for the paint in the queue, I have no answer. Universal has been building queues in Florida for 20 years, I thought they would know what kind of paints they need to stand up to the weather and people in line. Somebody messed up.
Stingray, you said I did not give it a winning endorsement. This year I have ridden Diamondback, The Voyage, The Legend, The Raven and Manta; all for the first time. Rocket was the least impressive of the coaster without music and the rest of the effects. I will try to get back to Universal and give it another go. I hope next time I can give it the endorsement I was hoping to this time.

You make a great argument with "first rides" for 2009. There's not much out there that can compare to the first experience on both Voyage and Diamondback.
I just hope USF has the tech and paint issues sorted out by the time that ride is running at full capacity.

How to access secret song's on Rip Rocket
It's been reported and now showed that you can access more song's using a secret way to input on the rides screen. You must use a 3 number code and know what the codes is. I wonder what 666 and 777 going to be?
Here's a list

Rockit ride; the update.
I was able to make it back up to Universal Studios Florida today. I was a little disappointed with the Rockit on my first ride, so I was hoping to have a better experience this time. I was not disappointed this time.
Universal still needs to talk with it's paint supplier. They have fixed all the real big spots where the paint was peeling, but they still have more small spots popping up. They still don't have the moving loading system working, but that is where the negativity stops. I had working sound on my car this time. I listened to Klein Mandelbrot, a Blue Man Group song that goes well with the coaster. My music was loud and clear, but I never heard the Evanescence song my wife was listening to right next to me. The music definitely improves the ride. I enjoyed every move that much more, this time. I also think the ride was smoother. It wasn't terribly rough the first time, but I didn't even notice any banging, on this ride.
Universal still has to work out the problems with their loading system to get the ride capacity up to where it should be, but I would definitely recommend riding it if you get the chance.
Stingray
great to hear.
I glad things got better for this ride. I was hoping some good news for Universal after all these deals with Spielberg and Marvel being spotlighted. There was some big anticipation from the people about this ride when I went down there for the summer. The music seems to be what makes this ride work so well. I going down there for Halloween Horror nights, so I get a chance to ride this bad boy. I wonder if you can leave a request for a song? I hope we hear you review on the show about this ride. Those are some fun shows to hear.

Good to hear. I think its so neat that you can't hear the song the person next to you is listening to. Question, the song you listen to, is it the whole song playing like normal or does it play parts of the song that kind of "match" the sections of track you're on? If that makes sense...
Wylder
The Blue Man Group song I was listening to, I believe was written for the ride so it was the whole song. I believe the song my wife listened to was unedited, but I am not real sure.
