This flyer is gonna be awesome. The layout itself seems kinda meh, but all the themeing is gonna make it awesome. The only thing I wonder right now is how the aquarium will hold up due to the vibrations of the ride. Same with, how will the fish inside do being that close to this massive shaking beast.

wow, when we were there I think all that was up were the white tower support things......i'm ashamed to say i didn't take ANY pictures! lol, wtf, i know.....i musta been majorly jet lagged from my red-eye flight! lol
I think this ride is going to be way awesome....not as good as tatsu (no other flying coaster ever will be in my opinion), but still great, mainly because of the theming. rays have always been my favorite sea animal so to be on a ride that in some ways makes me think of being in that type of experience is totally, totally awesome.
I'm all about theming, which is why i am a new convert to the terminator ride at sfmm. I admit, they turned me around! LOL

I'm looking forward to Manta. I think the finale near the water is going to be truely spectacular. They do have quite a bit of work to do on the theming if they want to open by the target of memorial day.

^I have to agree, it looks like there is A LOT to be done still. I'm quite excited to see what the final product will look like.

I agree too, it looks like there way more to do, but I think the themeing for this will be fantastic! So far I really like the station building.
When this first was announced, I wasn't to interested in it. Now that it's taking shape, I'm slowly looking forward to this coaster the most in 2009.
Quick question, can anyone explain to me how the "splash down" is going to work? From the pics, it doesn't look close enough to the water to make contact with the train.
Also, here's an update brought to you by johnnyupsidedown.com lol

^From my understanding the "tank" isn't filled yet, so the water is not at its full level yet.

mantaLooks like a awesome ride! If peta gets hold of this park you will have to move the manta around the track instead of it moving you around the track. lol, jk. Looks like a top themed attraction with a cool animal display. When Sea World makes a coaster they do it right!

Of what specualtions I've heard, the "splashdown" is gonna be more computer controlled proxy switches that give the look of the train hitting the water without the horrible g's the train would experience as one side is sent into water. So basically, it sounds like the train will never actually touch the water, but will sure as hell get close enough that some guests might still wet the train

Hey Darienlakerules, welcome to the forums!
Man you brought up a subject I totally forgot... PETA trying to buy out the park!!! HAHA - that brings back memories! I Have to agree with you on SeaWorld (actually the Busch Parks as a whole), they are phenominal with the design of their coasters.

Wow, that could be it! To tell the truth that never even crossed my mind; in that case it would use the same effect that HULK in IOA uses at the bottom of the drop. Very Cool if they go that route.
From the "rumors" heard... and again they're just Rumors, the left wing of the manta will have a type of "chute" effect similar to the splash downs on Sheikra and Griffon. Can't wait to see what it will truly be.

RCPro has posted some nice pics of Manta. They have opened up some of the paths now. So I think the only things that are blocked off now is the station and the splash down section... and now to the pics!
An overall of the first half and you can see the new path
A neat area to see the bottom of the pretzel loop
Overall of the last half... still more construction
And finally more work on the station/aquarium
And like always you can always go over to RCPro and look at the rest of the pics.
Enjoy!

picssLooks like a lot to still be done with the animal attraction.

That is insanelt close to the Pretzel Loop. Wow. And I love how they are theming it so that the coaster feels at "home," instead of really sticking out like a sore thumb.

I'm not a big fan of flying coasters, but I am looking forward to riding this thing. From the test runs I have seen on line, It looks like the cars just float though the air.

^We're headed back out to Orlando in October 2010... Since I'm bringing the whole Fam, we were planning on hitting only WDW & Universal... however, I might need to take a couple of hours out of the trip and give this one a quicky. It looks to cool to pass up.
