Being a Battlestar Galactica of both era of shows, I come to eagerly wait for some theme park related news. So, when Universal Studious Singapore was announce and that Battlestar Galactica coaster was being develop based on the updated version I couldn’t wait to go. Here’s a preview of what the coaster going like in it’s construction phase.
Here's concept model work of what the track layout wil be like.
Other then the coaster being built by Vekoma not much of the specs are out. Well you can look at those pictures and see, but anyway. I know someone might know, but I won't name any names. Screamscape has a little more info here's a quote.
Quote:
. First think about the show itself… if your going to be a Viper pilot, what’s the first thing your going to want to experience in a Battlestar Galactica themed coaster? The launch… and apparently BG: The Ride will not disappoint. From what I’ve now heard both sides of the ride will feature an LSM launched lift hill, said to fire the trains off the top at about 40mph or so, similar in speed and force as what you experience on the Hulk at Islands of Adventure. Minus the loop… but instead you’ll get a nice pop of airtime before taking the first drop.
of course Screamscape has great update so check out Screamscape.com or more photo's and info.
For those who miss it. There was a original Battlestar Galactica ride at Hollywood as part Universal Studios tram tour. A Battlestar Galactica fan site has a complete site devoted to the ride. Here's the link and some photo's.

NO! why couldn't they have had B&M build it? The world needs another hang and bang like the US needs national health care

While the entire ride sounds awesome, I think you missed the fact that one side will be inverted and the other side will be a sit down.

ok, well one hang and bang and one alright coaster

Actually, Vekoma, on the roller coaster side, is a completely new team. They are trying to erase the image of the old school Vekoma group. I can tell you first hand, this new team means business and these new coasters will rock!

well as long as the new vekoma suspends aren't like the current hang and bang

Don't forget that Vekoma has designed new trains for their inverts and I think their sit-downs. They're more like the 4 across B&M trains now.

would they work on the current slcs?
traincrossing9
I doubt it. Besides new trains I believe they have also designed a new track style where the wheels are on the outside of the track instead of the inside like on SLCs. I do know that they have designed new SLC trains similar to those found on B&M flyers with the vest so you can't get headbanged because their's nothing to headbang against like their new boomerang design. I can't find any of this on their website but I remember reading about it.

Thanks for posting this. This caught my attention a couple weeks ago but I forgot to look more into it. Hopefully your right Doug and this inverted coaster won't be like the older inverted Vekomas. I like the concept!

does the sit-down even loop? I can't tell!

It doesn't look like it. Here's a pic of the elements after the lift hill.

So by the looks of it the inverted side loops but the sitdown side doesn't. This might actually be a bit more family friendly than I originally thought.

^ oh ok. Cool, I'm a little disappointed that the red track is pretty much going to be lame, but I'll get over it. Can't wait to see some povs.
Press release video of Battlestar Galactica coaster was release at the Universal Studios blog. The video shows the ride cart's for both rides. Check out the viper coaster and the cylon ride thur with concept art to the line and props using the Battlestar universal.
Here's some video of both sides testing! Is it just me or does it seem a bit slow? Hopefully the ride will be smooth with the new Vekoma 4 across trains.
Yea, the last inversion on the blue side seems a little slow to me, but I think it will faster while your riding it. I think overall it looks like a great ride... I wish the dueling sections were a little more "intense".
