A while back I ask the Season Pass how content properties(like movies, TV show, and brands) are made into rides. There are a lot of reasons, but I wonder how some that have become popular in our culture never become the next big ride or attractions.  Take the Alien movies, there were once a ride called Aliens:Ride at the Speed of Fright.

This played in San Francisco at the Pier 39 in the TurboRide Simulation Theatre.  The company that made this is called Iwerks. There's a You Tube vidoe of this ride with another called Alien War London. Here's the link to it.

These look really cool and I find that they get what the rides are about.  Granted a family ride it isn't, but rides like The Mummy and Jurassic Park have hard themes as well.

Alien War London was a walk thur attraction that follows a haunted house style, but leaves a pluse of tension and fear to a action theme walk though.
So what do you guy's think are these cool rides and attractions? Has anybody here ever been on these. If so, let us know how it was.

Check out Gary Goddard official site for info on a Aliens 3D attraction concept.
Here's the link to the official site.

I think they never got to build this attraction, but I think this was a great show like T2-3D that could have been.

Now I know that there is one Alien ride out there and it's at the Disney Hollywood Studios in a ride called The Great Movie Ride.

But I find this just a glimpse of a ride that can be so much more. Also Disney slow down the Alien pop up so it wouldn't be so scary(wimps).

What I would really like to see is Aliens make a comeback as a dark ride. Passengers would hop on the transport from the second movie(Aliens) and escape from the colony that is infested with the Aliens. The ride would have guns on the side and front and they would shoot the aliens trying to catch the passengers. As the ride reaches the goal of escape they would come face to face with the queen alien and battle they way out as the ride speed increase. This ride is kind of like the Dinosaur ride at Animal Kingdom. So what do you guy's think.  Trying to design a ride, to have a story, and be fun with repeatability is hard.  Let me know what kind of ride you like to see with Aliens.  Is it a coaster, dark ride, show? How would you design this ride if you were given a property license like Alien.
I would like to know what ideas are out there given real context. See what come out and notice how the thought process comes into play. Remember those interviews on the Season Pass and see how there skills are put into the test of making a theme park attraction. I hope you all enjoy this view point.  Thanks

Here some video links from the Alien War attraction.

You have got those jurassic park rides @ universal studios. I really love it.
But the walking with dinosaurs show from BBC might even be mutch better and realistic

I think Aliens would be an amazing property to work with... great pics and video stingray.

BTW- I used to daydream about the same concept you spoke of, riding the tranporter through the Alien filled caverns of Aliens.  What a ride that would be!!

TRON!!! End of story.
Dueling motorbikes based on the light cycle scene is no question. I have already thought out this whole process and ride before in my head

Tron and Aliens would be great rides, but I would have to go with the thing they used in The Running Man to shoot the contestants into the playing field.  Someone makes that into a ride and I'm there.

This is the actual ride film used for the motion seat ride Aliens that was done by the Iwerks. The footage above is the pre-ride film before the ride-thur.
This video is the ride part just imagine being on a motion seat like your local theme park has for those Spongebob rides.

Just in time for Halloween a scary ride using a popular icon. With development of a new Alien movie or prequel I can hope that a Alien dark ride could come to the theme parks.
Trivial time:
1. Did you know the Disney Alien Encounter was original designed for the Alien movie. It would have used the setting of the space ship Nostromo from the first film as part of the ride. It was later scrap due to it intense natural of the films and ride concept in favor of George Lucas contribution of a transporter alien sensory experiences.
2. The actor who played the Hick's like character Hyer is Jeffery Combs. For most of you Star Trek nerds out there he played Weyoun on DS9 and later Commander Shran on Enterprise.
3. I not sure but if you were a Equalizer fan then the LT. is played by Kieth Szarabajka who was Micky Kostmayer on that hit action show and later a Det. in the Dark Knight that was fooled by the joker in his escape from jail.
IMdB has only a few credits for the ride and the Disney trivial I found on Disney podcast like Extinct Attraction and Jim Hill Media. I actually saw a video where they interview about Alien Encounter and talk about the design of the concept of Alien for Disney, but I haven't found the link yet. I'll see if I can find out what happened to that and try to post it up.
Happy Halloween
